Dear Members/Parents/Swimmers,
Firstly I would like to confirm that I was delighted to be nominated and elected as the new Chairman of Isle of Man Swimming Association. I am looking forward to working with the Executive and representing you in advancing the 'cause' of swimming in the Isle of Man.
Secondly, some of you will recall that at the recent AGM of the IoMSC there was a call for a Special General Meeting to address issues that were raised in connection with the 'officers' of the club.
At a meeting of the IoMSC Committee on Monday 14th July 2008 the Chairman Rob Frize stepped down from his position. As a consequence the committee appointed me as the Chairman of the IoMSC (as well as the IoMSA). The Committee, as allowed by the Club's constitution, also appointed David Nash as Vice-Chairman, Mike Kennish as Treasurer and Ann Isaac as Secretary. All of these positions mirror the positions of the IoMSA. I am pleased that I have been appointed and to have the support of David, Mike and Ann on both the IoMSA executive and the Club committee.
As a consequence of these appointments there is now no need to proceed with the SGM and your committee recommends that the proposal posted at the AGM been withdrawn. We have taken the liberty of assuming that a meeting will not be required unless we hear anything to the contrary from the membership.
Thirdly, I am able to confirm that Sacha Djerfi will be commencing his role as National Coach with effect from the 15th August.
There will be a summer break from squad sessions from the 4th August until Sunday 18th August.
We intend to have a meeting of Swimmers and Parents as quickly as practicably possible to enable Sacha to introduce himself properly and to give you all the opportunity to ask questions and listen to Sacha's plans.
I hope to keep in touch with you all on a regular basis in the months ahead and in the meantime enjoy your swimming. Good luck to those of you with competitions ahead of you.
Kind regards,
Clive Parrish
Chairman
Isle of Man Swimming Association
