The pinnacle of swimming events was held at the MEN Arena in Manchester in a swimming pool constructed especially for the event. The championships, held over five days attracted the world's best swimmers and was the first of its kind ever to be staged in the UK with over 130 countries taking part making the event the biggest World Swimming Championships ever!
Two temporary pools were built for the occasion with a seating capacity for 8,000 people – one pool for competition while the other was for warm up and cool down.
Island squad swimmer Lucy won tickets for the final day of competition. The tickets were donated by Swim NorthWest. Their Regional Development Officer Nik Turnbull had been on the Island recently to outline changes within the swimming environment.
