Galas: Southern ASC win against Thirsk White Horse ASC

Sunday 2nd May 2004 saw the return match between Southern ASC and Thirsk White Horse ASC (North Yorkshire). Southern were victorious with 174 points to Thirsks 160.

With Thirsk having took first blood at the Christmas meet in December 2003, Southern were determined to give it their all and this they duly did.

What can only be described as a 'nail biter' ensued for two hours down at Castletown. The opening rounds went to Southern but with a noble fight back by Thirsk it was anybodies match.

However in the end Southern and their magnificent team rose to the occasion and won back the Bradford and Bingley International (IoM) Trophy with outstanding swims from all our team. This delightful trophy was presented by John Sheath M.D. of Bradford and Bingley (IoM) to Katie Hill and Dane Harrop - Team Captains - at the Disco and Buffet at Ronaldsway.

Both teams, officials and parents all joined together for a fantastic evening. Special thanks to all the ladies for their sterling work with the buffet. The Trophy will now stand in its home at Castletown Baths. For more information, photos and results please go to the Southern ASC website.

Thanks to Peter Fish, the officials and Swim team from Thirsk and to the officials, parents and especially the swimmers at Southern. Also Mike Kennish and Alistair Breed for an excellent job with timing and results. See you next year at Thirsk!
