Isle of Man Swimming Club: Time Trial PBs

Recent time trials for 50 metres freestyle, 50m backstroke, 100m individual medley and 200m choice strokes went well with a lot of swimmers achieving personal bests, writes Phil Salmon.

Mark Emery knocked a magnificent 10.12 seconds off his 200m breaststroke along with Roisin Cummins (8.50) and Hannah Kennish (12.07) in the women's 100 individual medley. Full results are posted on the website and noticeboard.

It was good to see birthday boy David Quine celebrating his 12th birthday, swimming a personal best by cutting 11.48 seconds in the 200m butterfly.

Pisces Swimming club for the Disabled are still looking for an additional fully ASA qualified swimming teacher. The session is on a Monday night at Glencrutchery Pool, Douglas, 18:30-20:30. Training and support will be available.

The Lloyds TSB Distance championships will be held this Saturday, February 22, at the NSC, warm up 17:15 with an 18:00 start. As previously mentioned all events swum on the night are part of the NatWest Island Games programme so a lot of swimmers will be working hard to achieve consideration times.

The only event being swum that night not on the Island games programme is the 100m individual medley. Spectators welcome.

Changes in training sessions for Island squads are working well. Please note that the Wednesday session is 20:00-21:30 for the younger squad members, with 20:00-22:00 for the remainder.

Don't forget any birthday celebrations can be emailed for inclusion in this column along with any poolside news.
